Branching a conversation
Explore a different follow-up from an existing answer and keep a route back to the original conversation.
A branch starts a separate direction from a point in Chat. It is useful when you want to explore alternatives without mixing them into one ongoing discussion.
Start a branch
- Find the answer you want to continue from.
- Choose Branch conversation from here beneath it.
- In the new branch, send the alternative question or instruction.
- Review the new response. Use Open original to return to the source conversation when offered.
The video starts with an explanation of a Repair Café, then asks for three event names in the branch.
Keep the directions clear
Rename the conversations so you can distinguish them later. A branch is a separate conversation; do not expect later changes in one conversation to rewrite the other.
Use Edit message when you simply need to correct a question. Branching also does not create a public sharing link; copy or export the useful output when you need to share it.
