Understand the energy and CO₂ behind your work.

Open the footprint indicator near the composer to see your conversation’s energy use and estimated CO₂ emissions. Your weekly energy budget is shown separately.

Conversation footprint
See the energy attributed to a conversation in watt-hours (Wh), alongside its estimated emissions in grams of CO₂e.
CO₂ based on location
We estimate CO₂ from energy use and carbon-intensity data for the data center’s location. We refresh this grid data every hour.
Weekly allowance
Your plan sets the available weekly budget. Check your allowance and reset time in the app.
What the figures cover
Energy and CO₂ figures cover model processing. Device use, networks and model training fall outside this scope.
