Translate presents the source and translated text side by side. The video translates a fictional English event invitation into Dutch.

Translate a passage

  1. Choose the source language, or leave language detection selected when appropriate.
  2. Select the target language.
  3. Paste the text you want translated. Respect the character limit shown in the editor.
  4. Choose Translate and wait for the result.
  5. Compare the translation with the original, checking names, dates, quantities and meaning.
  6. Use the copy action for the translated text.

If language detection chooses incorrectly, select the source language explicitly and translate again. The swap control may be unavailable while automatic detection is selected.

Get a useful result

Translate a complete paragraph when surrounding context changes the meaning. For a long document, work in sensible sections and keep terminology consistent. Have an appropriate speaker review important text before publishing it.

For style changes beyond translation, use Writing Coach. For text contained in an image, first use Vision to extract and check it.
